1. The Nutcracker: a traditional family activity

For over 50 years, this classical piece inspired by Hoffman’s tale has been delighting the hearts of young and old alike. The breathtaking sets by Peter Horne, flamboyant costumes by François Barbeau, and magical lighting by Nicolas Cernovitch make this piece, imagined by Fernand Nault, one to remember. Les Grands Ballets Orchestra brings new life to this timeless classic with their performance of Tchaikovsky’s magnificent music.

2. Luminothérapie - POP!: a colourful outing

 The 10th anniversary of Luminothérapie, POP! (an interactive installation by Gentilhomme) will transform Place des Festivals into a vast winter playground. Young and old alike are invited to come free the creatures hidden inside five mysterious monoliths that light up the night.

3. Axel: a show on ice not to be missed

Come discover Cirque du Soleil’s AXEL, an electrifying new experience fusing world-class skating and breathtaking acrobatics! Follow the adventures of Axel and his friends, whose passion for music and graphic arts comes to life in an exhilarating way, reminding us to always believe in our dreams. 

4. Atrium Le 1000 with Santa Claus: children's favourite activity

Calling all children on the Nice list: get your photo taken with Santa Claus on the ice for free on December 8th! Hurry—lace up those skates and hop onto the Atrium’s sparkling rink!

5. Visits to downtown's museums: the cultural activity par excellence

Downtown Montreal's museums offer you a great program for the holiday season. At McCord Museum, you can visit an exhibition on board games and admire their traditional Christmas windows. At Grévin Museum, you can meet Santa Claus on December 14 and 21. Finally, at Stewart Museum, the exhibition The Story Factory will certainly have a holiday feel to it.
