Whether for business, relaxation, luxury shopping, sports shopping, or romance, here are some downtown hot spots for you to enjoy.

1. Roselys

This establishment, whose name is reminiscent of the two flowers featured on the City of Montreal flag, is the perfect place for couples to decompress. With a décor that combines French elegance and British sophistication, Roselys is open from early morning to late evening, for breakfast, gourmet bistro-style dinner, Sunday brunch, high tea, or happy hour cocktails.

The dishes are concocted by Chef Maxime Delmont, who offers up refined market food. In addition to the beautiful setting, you’ll appreciate the selection of fine teas, the blackboard menu updated daily, and the candy creations by the pastry chef, who won the Meilleur Ouvrier de France competition. At the bar, you can enjoy vintage wines by the glass, and sip them at the counter of the open kitchen.

2. Decathlon

The recent opening of Decathlon, right in the heart of the Eaton Centre, is sure to make sports fans very happy. This renowned international chain offers sporting and outdoor items for more than 65 disciplines, all under one roof. The downtown store may be more modest in size than the other branches across the province, but the different sections, spanning some 38,000 square feet, are sure to have something for everyone.

Both avid and novice athletes will be pleased to find whatever equipment they need, be it for hockey, running, tennis, soccer, or less common sports. Plus, the 50 in-store clerks are there to answer any questions and advise customers. This Decathlon location is also a pick-up point for purchases made online.

3. Michael Kors

The first Michael Kors store in Canada opened its doors in November of last year, right here in Montreal, and it’s already drawing crowds. It should be noted that this flagship store is located inside a beautiful historic building, which once housed a bank. Spanning more than 9,000 square feet, there are products from each label—Michael Kors, Michael Kors Collection, and Michael Kors Mens. The brushed stainless steel shelves hold handbags, watches, jewelry, and glasses elegantly.

On the mezzanine, you’ll find two ready-to-wear shops for women. Customers looking for a VIP experience, who want to discover items from the Michael Kors Collection label—the most luxurious of the brand’s labels—can make an appointment at Studio 1133, a multi-purpose space that resembles an artist’s loft. The space also plays host to exclusive events.

4. Europea

If you’re going to have a business meeting anyway, it might as well be somewhere that combines quality, originality, and sophistication. In its new version, Europea is hands-down one of the best places in town for a business meeting. Its beautiful two-storey décor won America’s best Restaurant & Bar Design award.

The bar is perfect for quick meetings, to sign a contract while nibbling on finger food and sipping on a house cocktail, for example. If you need more time to talk shop, go for the three-course, happy hour menu. Or get the full experience with an 11-course meal from the “Grande table” menu. Chef Jérôme Ferrer and Stage Director René Richard Cyr use their combined talents to create a unique culinary universe in Montreal.

5. LOV

Nestled in the heart of downtown is the spot for a romantic rendez-vous. This gourmet vegan restaurant, fittingly named LOV, is both bright and conducive to intimate conversations. In a very relaxing décor where white and light green dominate, the atmosphere is cozy, making you forget about all the surrounding noise. However, LOV is first and foremost a three-letter philosophy: Local, Organic, Vegan. Here, you can enjoy beet tartare, quinoa nuggets, and black bean burgers.

In the summer, take your significant other to the terrace, where you can have a drink or try a house specialty—a deliciously unique signature cocktail. On weekends, all couples—long-time lovers, new couples, or dating duos—can enjoy an intimate, romantic brunch.
