Downtown Montreal commercial development association: How does it work?

The corporation is under the authority of a board of directors made up of 9 people elected by the members during the annual meeting. The board has to adopt the company's action plan, orientations, priorities and goals to reach in order to assure progress and improvement of the downtown area . The board also proposes the budget to be adopted by members during the annual meeting. Daily activities, management agenda and current business activities are assured by the administration office and the executive director and his staff.

The organization is financially fed mainly from members' mandatory assessments. These assessments are fixed according to the annual budget - which is adopted by members – and are collected by the City of Montreal that will afterward give the collected sum entirely to the organization.
