Destination centre-ville’s Santa Claus Parade will kick off the Holiday Season on Sainte-Catherine Street West with, among others, Joannie Rochette, Maxime Landry, Québec Issime’s Décembre and The Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie.
On Saturday, November 23, at 11 a.m., the public is invited to celebrate the arrival of the Holiday Season downtown Montreal. Young and young at heart are expected along Sainte-Catherine Street West, between Du Fort and Saint-Urbain streets, to attend the most popular Christmas event in Quebec. A not-to-miss kick-off of the Holiday festivities, the parade has become a genuine tradition.
Presented by Destination centre-ville and produced by Daniel Bouchard, Destination centre-ville’s Santa Claus parade will exhibit some twenty large floats among which the completely renovated floats of the Star Fairy and of Santa Claus, as well as a thousand singers, dancers and street performers. And needless to add the highly expected arrival of Santa Claus…
Among the different tableaus depicting the magic of Christmas, Québec Issime Décembre show singers will animate Place du Marché. Also present and opening the parade, the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie team with its founder Pierre Lavoie, who is also one of the parade’s guests of honour. Musical performance by Maxime Landry, grand winner of Star Académie 2009, will warm up the crowd with classical Christmas carols from his newly released album Noël Blanc.
Joannie Rochette becomes the parade’s Star Fairy!
After inspiring the whole country in Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, the figure skating bronze medallist happily joins the Christmas parade as the Star Fairy. She has the ultimate mandate to warmly prepare the crowd and the ground for Santa Claus’ arrival.
