The Montréal centre_ville Awards
The Montréal centre_ville Awards pay homage to individuals, events, and commercial activities that contribute to making Montréal - and particularly its downtown core - a vibrant place to live and visit.
Four awards are attributed each year, in September:
The Tribute Award recognizes an individual who has contributed to te development of the city. This year, the award went to Mr Kent Nagano, Music Director of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, for his passion and dedication.
The Commercial Development Award honours a downtown Montreal entrepreneur from the retail, restaurant, hotel and event industries whose work stands out from that of their peers. The Award went to Mr. Jack Sofer et Mr. Mike Yuval, Tidan partners and shareholders, for having revived one of the city's most historical treasures: The Mount Stephen.
The Public Service Award celebrates the efforts of an individual involved in the public or institutional sector who has contributed to promoting Montreal around the world. The Award went to Mrs. France Desjardins, former director of La Maison du Père and Mr. Cyril Morgan, former director of Mission Bon Accueil, for their dedication, and for all that they have accomplished in their institutions.
The Event Award singles out an event, show, or demonstration that generated a lot of buzz, and got the attention of those in charge at Destination centre-ville and Montréal centre_ville. This year, the Award went to Mrs Suzanne Sauvage, President and Chied Executive Officer of McCord Stewart Museum, for her dedication for helping others discover Montreal, and for her exemplary leadership.
Congratulations to the winners!
